Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: November 24, 2019
Welcome to 90's & Newer Flip Frenzy @ The Flipper Room! This tournament will feature machines from the "90's DMD era" to present day "Modern era".
Flip Frenzy is a fast-paced tournament where you try to play and win as many head 2 head games as possible in 2.5 hours. After 2.5 hours of Flip Frenzy, the top 8 (16+ participants) or 12 (24+ participants) go on to Finals. All ages and skill levels welcome!
How it works:
-$5 entry + coin drop. Cash prizes go to the top 4 finishers. (% of remaining pot after $1 IFPA fee is taken out.)
1st place 50%
2nd place 30%
3rd place 20%
4th place - $5
-Roughly 85% of the competitors will start playing a game as player 1 or player 2.
-The remaining 15% will be in a virtual queue, waiting for a game to finish.
-After a game ends and the players report the result, three things happen.
1. A person at the front of the queue becomes player 1 on a new game.
2. Player 1 from the previous game becomes player 2 on the new game with the new player 1.
3. Player 2 from the previous game gets put back into the queue.
Standings are determined by net wins. (Total wins minus total losses)
Ties to get into the Finals will be broken by a 1 game playoff on a random machine.
To determine seeding, players tied in the top 8 (or 12) will play a random Showroom machine (early SS).
Finals will be PAPA Style Group Match Play with 4/2/1/0 or 4/2/1 scoring; 3 (possibly 4) games per round. Ties will be broken by placement (most 1st and 2nd place finishes). If necessary, there will be a 1 game tiebreaker with the current top seed from qualifying getting machine or position choice.
Top seed in each group will choose either game #1 or position. Loser of game #1 will choose game #2 or position. Same for game #3.
Doors open @ 11am, tournament begins @ 12:30pm.
Snacks & beverages available on site to purchase.
