FORMAT & FINALS - FULL DETAILS LISTED BELOW
In order to qualify for the 2021 Delaware Tour Championship, you must be ranked inside the top 40 players after all 6 "tour" events are completed in 2021.In addition to being ranked inside the top 40, you must also have attended at least 2 of the 6 Delaware "Tour" events. On 11/14/21, the final standings for the Tour Championship will be posted. We will take the top 40 eligible players to the Tour Championship. Should someone inside the top 40 not have enough events to qualify or if they are unable to attend the Tour Championship, we will move to position 41 and so on until someone commits to coming. We will continue to do this until we have a full 40 player field for the Tour Championship.
In the event of a tie for the 40th position, the tiebreaker position will be determined by whichever player has the highest finish in a Tour Championship event for 2021. If a tie remains after a single event, the next highest finish will be considered. This process will proceed until the tie is broken, or a coin flip is required.
The Tour Championship Format:
The Tour Championship Finals will feature a select group of pinball machines selected by officials. Machines outside this group may not be selected for play. Officials may make machine substitutions as they deem necessary.
Rounds One and Two
All players will be grouped together by seed into 10 groups of 4 players. Each group of 4 players will compete on 4 different machines, with the highest seeded player given the choice of choosing the game to be played or determining the order of play. At the end of the 4 game round, two players will advance out of each group into the second round. The second round will mimic the first round. Rounds 1 & 2 will use the PAPA Finals format for scoring (4/2/1/0).
Rounds 3 thru 9 - Ladder Bracket Finals
4 player groups will play 1 game. The first game is played by the four lowest-seeded players. The highest-seeded player in that group has choice of machine or order of play. Choice proceeds through the remaining players in descending order of seeding. The player who has the lowest score is eliminated from the Tour Championship. The next lowest-seeded player, who has not yet played, is added to the group for the next game. In each subsequent match, the highest-seeded player (who will be the player who just joined the group) has choice of machine or order of play. The next choice is given to the winner of the previous game, and choice proceeds in descending order of score on the previous game.
No player may choose the same machine more than once, but any player may choose a machine already played, including the most recent machine played. Officials may remove any machine from consideration at any time.
Players will compete until two players remain. At that point, a best-of-three match between the final two players will take place to determine the champion. The highest seeded player has the choice of machine or order of play for the first game. From that point forward, the loser of the previous game has the choice of machine or order of play.
Consolation Finals - We will also have a "B" division and "C" division consolation finals for players that get knocked out of Round 1 and Round 2.
Prizes:
The final 10 players will all receive a cash prize with the 1st place winner receiving the biggest portion of the prize fund along with the 6 foot tall Delaware Tour Championship trophy! (NOTE - As stated from the very beginning of our tour championship series, First State Flippers made a point to pay out first place with a significantly larger portion of the prize fund. We do not follow the typical percentage formats as we wanted to put a lot of emphasis and prestige on winning 1st place and we wanted to reward that person for their efforts)
Based on current projections with 40 players in attendance, these are the payouts:
1ST - $1000 + 6 foot championship trophy
2ND - $400
3RD - $300
4TH - $200
5TH - $100
