Lamplighter Pub to host Guinness World Record pinball marathon attempt
Pinball champion Eden Stamm to start his flipper marathon September 8th
For over 60 years, Guinness World Records have inspired people to feats of endurance, creativity, and strength in the attempt to add their names to the list of world record holders. Donnelly Group is excited to support one of those crazy dreamers as on September 8th, champion pinballer Eden Stamm will attempt to break the record for the “longest pinball marathon”.
He will begin his playing marathon at 3:00PM on Tuesday, September 8th at The Lamplighter Public House in Gastown with the task of breaking the current record of 28 hours of consecutive play. He’s allowed to take a five minute break every hour and will be supported and encouraged around the clock as he attempts to break the record which has stood since 2007.
If the marathon goes to plan, Stamm will reach the recording-breaking time at 7:00pm on September 9th in the midst of The Lamplighter’s New Replay Pinball Tournament, the World’s largest weekly pinball tournament. “We’ve been hosting our own pinball tournaments for some time now and we had the idea of trying to break a pinball world record”, said Damon Holowchak of Donnelly Group. “When Eden agreed to be part of the record attempt we got in touch with Guinness to begin the process of applying to have our record attempt certified”.
Eden Stamm brings a genuine pinball pedigree to the record attempt, having competed at the highest levels for over a decade, including time spent as one of the top 10-ranked players in the world. He remains the reigning BC Champion and a regular winner on the pinball tournament circuit.
“We’re hoping to honour the Guinness Records, which were of course founded by the historic brewery, by setting a record in Vancouver’s most historic pub, and we’re looking forward to welcoming pinball players and fans to be part of this record attempt.”
In order to be certified as a record by Guinness, two witnesses will be required at all times throughout the attempt. Donnelly Group is building a schedule of record witnesses and is inviting those who would like be part of a record attempt, and pinball history, to contact Emma Shaw eshaw@donnellygroup.ca.

What are the PINBALL regulation sides of this Guinness record. What if the machine breaks. Sitting or standing. Shouldn’t that matter? Time between games. Cradling for too long. Etc.
Amazing! I wonder if this was somewhat inspired by Jack Danger’s 24hr effort on Twitch last week?
I reckon Jason Lambert could beat the current record … but we’ll see how much this new record will be.

Good luck is my only comment for now. 😉
Yeah I saw on the IFPA site a comment about regulations. Are there any specific rules about attempting this?
Mega good luck though! It’s a fun record!
@Question We had to pre-certify a machine – Eden chose Twilight Zone. We brought in an extra machine as a backup. Guinness made it clear that we could move to a backup if a machine broke – and as I type this, 10 hours into the attempt, we have had to move to another machine once during the attempt, but it luckily coincided with a break, and Eden seamlessly transitioned. He is allowed to sit, but Eden prefers not to. The time is as long as it takes to start the next games, the rules are set that as long as eden is “engaged” in pinball play he is allowed to continue his attempt. Let me know if you have any more questions.
