Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: January 14, 2017

This tournament will consist of an 18 "hole" qualifying round followed by a match-play final. 18 machines will be selected to represent each "hole". Each machine will have a specific goal which will represent "par". The goal will be labeled on the backglass of each machine. The object is to reach the target goal on each machine in as few balls (shots) as possible. The goals on the various machines will be a mix of score and objective-based values. For example, the goal on Medieval Madness might be to score 8 million points. The player would play until the target score is reached or the game ends. Machines will be set to 5 balls. If the target score is reached on ball 3, for instance, the player would receive a score of 3 for that hole. If a player still had not reached the target score at the end of ball 5, then they would record a 6 for that hole. Thus, the possible scores for each hole consist of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Scoring for the objective-based "holes" is similar. An example of an objective might be "sink 2 ships" in Pirates of the Carribean.
Players will go-off in groups and scores will be verified by the players within the group. The scores will be recorded into Matchplay in addition to a written scoresheet. Tee times will start at 10am and groups will go off via a "shotgun start". Players may mutually choose their playing partners or be paired randomly.
After the qualifying round, the 8 players with the lowest cumulative scores will qualify for the A division final. The A final will consist of a matchplay elimination bracket. Two groups of four players will play 3 holes chosen via Matchplay. After the 3 holes are completed, the 2 players from each group with the lowest cumulative score will advance. The final 4 players will similarly play 3 holes with the cumulative scores determining the finishing positions(1st-4th).
Players qualifying 9-24 will qualify for the B division final. The B final will consist of a single-elimination match-play bracket. As in the A final, pairs of players will be assigned a randomly-selected machine from the 18 "holes" and again will be playing to reach the target goal. If, after completion of the "hole" the players remain tied, they will proceed to the next unoccupied "hole" in sequence and continue play until one player wins a hole.
