Tournament Overview

Start Date: April 11, 2017
End Date: June 06, 2017

The Morgantown Rewind Pinball League is a competitive pinball league that will operate for 8 consecutive weeks
with the Finals being held on the 9th week. The location for EACH WEEK will be Mundy's Place (669 Madigan Avenue, Morgantown, WV). The current schedule will run from April 11, 2017 to May 30, 2017...with the Finals being held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

The machines for this League will be, for the most part, PRE-DMD games. Games slated for play range from a couple of older EM titles and a mix of 70's & 80's Solid State machines. An early DMD title could slip in on occasion over the length of the League season, but all-in-all it will be dominated by older machines...thus the name MORGANTOWN REWIND PINBALL LEAGUE.

Entry for the COMPLETE Season will be $10. All entry money will be paid out to the Top 3 Finishers during the Finals (paid out in 60%, 25%, 15% increments). Any players that HAVE NEVER PLAYED IN AN MPA SPONSORED LEAGUE can play one week at no cost in order to see if they like participating. Should they return to play during a later week, the one time $10 entry fee would be due at that time.

Tournament play each Tuesday night will be Head-To-Head "Knockout" format with random selection of opponents and machines each Round. Each week will be scheduled to be a "Three Strikes Knockout" as long as there are at least 16 players
participating. Should there be 15 or less players, the Tournament will become a "Four Strikes Knockout" format. The first player randomly chosen by the software (matchplay.events) will have choice of order in each match of every round.

Each week during the schedule, "MRPL Points" will be awarded to each participant. "MRPL Points" will be awarded in the following manner: 100 for 1st Place, 90 for 2nd Place, 85 for 3rd Place, 84 for 4th Place and then in one point decreasing increments for each position 5th Place and below (83, 82, 81, etc.). At the end of the eight weeks, the TOP SIX SCORES ACCUMULATED FOR EACH PLAYER WILL CONSTITUTE THEIR FINAL POINT TOTAL. These Points will be tallied through the schedule and will determine seeding for the Finals. Highest Point total will be seeded 1st, second highest Point total 2nd and so on through the 8 player Finals bracket.

Finals will be Head-To Head, Best Of Three Rounds with the winner advancing on to the next Round. During the Finals, the higher seeded player will have choice of game or order and the lower seeded player will have the unclaimed choice. No waiting on machines will be allowed for the Finals, so an unoccupied machine must be chosen when the Round starts. Seeding will be in a 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 format with the 1-8 winner facing off against the 3-6 winner in Round 2 and the 2-7 winner playing the 4-5 winner. Third Round will consist of the Championship Match and the single game Consolation Match (to determine 3rd and 4th Place Finishers). Order of Top 8 Finishers after Finals will determine the Final Standings for the Top 8 as submitted to the IFPA. The rest of the Final Standings will be determined by "MOSPL Points" accumulated over the course of the schedule.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND THE FOLLOWING:

*=Should any Schedule changes need to be made, they will be posted on the Facebook Page for the event itself. Please join that page to keep up with the latest standings and updates.

2. Mundy's Place is open for practice during regular business hours beginning at 3pm each Tournament Tuesday.

3. Since this is considered a "League", no weekly Tournament results will be submitted to the IFPA. Instead, all "Meaningful Games" played and other vital statistics will be accumulated through the Finals to determine the Final Results which will be submitted to the IFPA and WPPR's will be determined accordingly.

4. Participants MUST play FIVE of the 8 week schedule in order to qualify for the Finals. In other words, the Top 8 participants who HAVE played at least four weeks of the schedule will make up the Finals field. This means that a player that played the needed five weeks and has a lower point total will make the Finals over a person that played only four weeks but has a higher point total.

5. Should there happen to be a Tie for any spot in the Top 8 (thus affecting the Finals), the Tie will be broken on the day of the Finals with a ONE GAME TIEBREAKER on a randomly selected machine. Winner of Tiebreaker game will claim the higher position of the two for seeding purposes.

6. Please note that starting in 2017, the IFPA has instituted the following ruling: "For any IFPA-endorsed tournament or league with a qualifying portion, players can only be included in IFPA final results if they have met at least 50% of all qualifying requirements. Any players that don’t meet this minimum participation requirement should be removed from the results by the tournament director (TD) prior to submitting those results to the IFPA. For example...For leagues, this means that players must participate in at least 50% of the sessions of the regular season to be included in the final standings submitted to the IFPA." What does this mean to participants in the "Morgantown Rewind Pinball League"? IF YOU DO NOT PLAY IN 4 OF THE 8 WEEKS OF THE "MORGANTOWN REWIND PINBALL LEAGUE" SEASON, IT WILL (AT LEAST IFPA-WISE) LOOK LIKE YOU NEVER PLAYED AT ALL! That means no WPPR's awarded to you or no qualifying for the current year's State Championship for you (unless you play in other tournaments or complete another League season during the year). Keeping it simple, you could look at it like this: you gotta play FOUR weeks in the MRPL to be recognized by the IFPA as having ever participated at all.

7. Machines will be on coin drop at Mundy's Place.

8. Any rulings needed during the course of play each week will be at the sole discretion of the League Director and those assigned to oversee such matters.

9. Abusive behavior, either physically toward machines and individuals or verbally toward other individuals, will not be tolerated. After receiving an initial Warning of such abusive behavior, the next infraction will result in a player being banned from competition for the current schedule. A Warning will be effective for the Season of the initial infraction and expire at the end of the NEXT Season. Should an offence take place following the Warning, the dismissal of the player shall be in effect for the remainder of that Season and the next.

10. TARDINESS: Should a player be running late, he or she may text or call the Tournament Director and let them know that they are going to be arriving late. In this case, the player will be given a strike for the First Round and be added to the Second Round for regular play. NO players will be added after the start of the Second Round.

11. Updated weekly results will be available on the League Facebook page:
