Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: September 23, 2018
6th Annual Alan Marx Memorial IFPA Pinball Fundraiser:
We've hosted pinball parties for many years but this is our 6th annual pinball fundraiser in memory of Alan Marx.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
I want to be clear that anyone can come and support these wonderful charities!
TEXAS PINBALL LEAGUE QUALIFIER WILL BE AT THIS SAME LOCATION STARTING AT NOON
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2018 -- 5:30-6pm START (no hard stop time)
i. Head to Head – 3 games per round – 5 rounds – swiss pairing (15 TGP)
ii. Playoffs – top 8 for A division – PAPA style group match play elimination – expect at least 12 TGP
-playoff format for B & C will be different.
-C Division is a novice division format for players outside of the IFPA top 5000 only.
-Expect this tournament to be completed in 4 hours or less
Cost to play: Minimum suggested buy in is $25 - give more if you can!
Here's how it works:
--- 100% of all proceeds go to the charities (no cash payouts)
--- This event is benefiting two wonderful charities
The IFPA Tournament:
--- ALL skill levels welcome with NICE trophies for multiple divisions:
A Division: "The Pros"
B Division: "Best of the Rest"
Novice Division: Limited to players outside of the top 5000 in the world rankings - so true novices can win too!
--- last year we had 28 players from Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington (3 states)
--- the previous year (if I remember correctly) we also had 3 states represented.
--- late entrants are always welcomed too!
--- Division size will depend on number of players.
For those more serious about pinball, there are lots of IFPA WPPR points available here too because there will be a concurrent D/FW pinball league event.
Tournament run by Marcus of Xerico Pinball as I will be hosting the entire event.
Doors open at Noon and first flip is scheduled for 12:30 PM (or as soon after registration is complete as possible).
BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!!!!!
--- Cash Bar (free food and water) with licensed bartender. A donor pays for the bar so ALL bar proceeds go to the charities!
--- Silent Auction (had 7 different silent auction items last year - nice stuff that people really want!)
--- Ability on site to make tax deductible donation to the charities directly
FOOD: We will be cooking but its also a POT LUCK. Bring something if you can. Last year went spent almost $500 of food ... This year it will be more like $250 so that's why we added the Pot Luck component.
