The prize money awarded at the tournament is final. The tournament director’s decisions on rulings are final. You agree to these terms by signing up. You can’t come back after the tournaments are finalized and dispute your finishing position or prize payout. Any discrepancies need to be brought up immediately to the main tournament director, at and during, the tournaments themselves.
Tournament Formats and Rules:
Tournament #1 (Should get around 90% TGP) - 2-hour Flip Frenzy. You will be playing head-to-head (2-player) matches and we will have a queue of players waiting in line to play a match. As soon as ANY match ends, this will trigger the first person in the queue to go play a match. Rinse and repeat for 2 hours.
When a match ends and after reporting a win using the Matchplay Events software, Player 1 will now become player 2 for the next match against the first player standing in queue. The player coming out of the queue will always be Player 1. Player 2 from the previous match then moves to the back queue, regardless of if you win or lose, Player 2 ALWAYS goes to the end of the queue. At the end of each match the winner gets (+1) point, and the loser will get (-1) point.
After 2 hours of qualifying the top 8 based on "net wins" will move on to the finals. "Net Wins" is determined by the number of wins minus the number of losses. Tiebreakers will be decided by "most wins", followed by the "fewest losses". If a further tiebreaker is needed, TD will select a solid-state game at random to break the tie.
Format Specific Rules:
1. Players may not concede the game prior to the start of ball 3.
2. In the event that a registered player is late at the start of a match, that player will be moved to the end of the queue and will also receive a loss for that match.
Finals: Top 8 will move on to the finals and will play in a Ladder finals format. Top 4 will cash with 1st place also receiving a trophy. Only ties for prizes will be broken with another game played on an early solid-state machine.
Tournament #2 (Will be worth 136% WPPRS) - 8 round group match play. Tournament will use all 45+ Pinball Machines at the Delaware Pinball Collective. We will try our best to alternate the era of games played on. One round will be LCD/DMD games, and the next round will be Classics/EM games. The matchplay software will pick the games played and will match the players up in groups.
This is a Group Match Play Qualifying tournament with Random Pairings to start and Swiss thereafter. We will play exactly 8 rounds using 7/5/3/1(4-player groups) scoring or 7/4/1 (3-player groups). After 8 rounds the Top 16 players make the "A" division finals. All remaining players will get to play in a "B" division consolation finals. Automatic Tie Breakers will be turned on. The exception to Automatic Tiebreakers will be for 16th place ties. In the event we have an EXACT tie for a significant position we will conduct a one game playoff on Future Spa. For the 16th place position, anyone tied with the same amount of base points will play in a playoff to determine who makes the cut. If 4 or less players are tied, we will conduct a one game playoff on Stars. If we have more than 4 players tied, we will conduct a 1 BALL playoff on Future Spa for all players tied. This will be done so all players know who is in the finals. Playoffs will be groups of 4 players using a modified PAPA format on 3 Game Banks with 4/2/1/0 scoring. Once a bank is picked, that bank can no longer be picked during the remainder of the finals. Top 2 advance, bottom 2 eliminated. Final positions of 1st-16th will be determined solely by your play in the playoffs. No points carry over from qualifying.
The 4 eliminated players eliminated in round 1 of the "A" finals will be ranked from 9th-16th based on the accumulated points from this round. The 4 players eliminated in round 2 of the "A" finals will be ranked 5th-8th based on accumulated points from this round. Ties will not be broken.
The four remaining players advance to the final round. The final round is conducted in the same manner as the Semifinal Round. The total scores for this round will determine the order of the winners. All ties in the final round are considered significant and will be broken with a 1 game playoff. The final reporting of points to IFPA will show 1st-4th place with no ties. Top 4 will cash with 1st place also receiving a trophy.
"B Division Consolation Finals". All players who did NOT make the "A" finals will play in a 2-strike group knockout tournament. In 4 player groups, bottom 2 receive a strike. In 3 player groups, bottom 1 receives a strike. Last person standing will win the "B" consolation prize of $75. This is a consolation tournament and will not be IFPA sanctioned for WPPRS.
