The Ontario Open is coming! It’s the largest pinball event in Ontario in 2023. 5 events over one weekend, Nov. 24-26/23 at Maple Pinball in Mississauga, home to 70 new and classic machines.
\Tourneys include:
1. Ontario Open Main event. Pump & dump (herb score) – Fri-Sun
2. Ontario Open Classics event. Friday night.
3. Ontario Open Women’s event. Saturday morning
4. Ontario Open Match Play event. Saturday qualifying. Sunday playoffs (capped at 80 players for now, waitlist will be taken. Weekend pass players will receive preference.)
5. Ontario Open 3 Strikes event. Sunday at 3pm (Note: players cannot play in both playoffs of Main event & 3 Strikes event).
Cost: $120 for entire weekend Fri-Sun (Main, Classics, Match Play, 3 Strikes event). Women’s is an additional $15 for those interested. Passes go on sale on Oct. 25/23 at 6pm ET. Cash or PayPal to pinballprofile @gmail.com
Early bird bonus (if paid before Nov. 1): 7 entries for Main Event
Cancellation: 95% (before Nov. 8). 75% between Nov. 8-14. 50% between Nov. 15-22
Individual pricing available for each event.
Match Play event – Sat/Sun. Capped at 80 players (for now). Waitlist will be taken.
- Qualifying Saturday from noon-10:30pm
- You will be put into groups of 4 players. You will play 3 games each round, one machine from each era. (7-5-3-1 scoring)
- 6 rounds of 4-player groups (18 games in total)
- MP rounds:
- Noon-1:30pm, 1:30-3pm, 3-4:30pm, 4:30-6pm. Dinner break 6-7:30pm. 7:30-9pm, 9-10:30pm
- Tiered swiss pairing
- 200% WPPR estimate!
Playoffs: Sunday start at 9am (to be done between 9am-3pm).
- (up to) Top 16 in A Division. and each get paid.
- B division (eligible): top 8 players (players ranked 1-1000 as of Nov. 14 not eligible for B division). Top 4 in B playoffs get paid.
- After qualifying is done, if two or more players are tied for final playoff spot(s), they will play a one-game playoff (random game & order) to determine seeding. This will take place immediately when qualifying ends.
- Players will play 3 games per round with 4-2-1-0 scoring, with the top 2 players advancing to the next round. Top seed picks game bank or order of 1st game (lowest score of playoff game gets choice of order for next game in that bank). A player cannot pick the same bank, 2 rounds in a round.
- If there's a tie after 3 games to advance or any spot 1st-4th place overall, top seed will have choice of order on tie-breaker machine. Each bank has a designated tie-breaker machine shown to the players upon selecting the bank.
This MatchPlay event is included with the Weekend package purchase. If you’d like this tournament only, cost is $40. You need to play both Saturday, and be available for playoffs on Sunday at 9am.
