PAPA (The Professional & Amateur Pinball Association) previously held an annual championship tournament where the best players in the world competed for the title, World Pinball Champion. In support of that goal, PAPA designed a very challenging format that allows the best of the best to rise to the top. The Pinball Asylum has continued this very challenging tournament again for 2024. The format for OUR "PAPA-Style" Tournament calls for each player to put together their best single entry or scorecard during qualifying.

The format for our PAPA-Style Tournament calls for each player to put together their best single-entry ticket or scorecard during qualifying. An entry ticket consists of five (5) games chosen by the player from a bank of twelve (12) available machines.

The player selects one machine at a time until they have recorded five machine scores to complete an entry ticket. The player is attempting to get the best score on each of the five (5) machines to get the best composite total score using those five (5) machines selected. Players may play as many entries in any combination of the five (5) qualifying games as they like but cannot play the same machine twice for that entry ticket. Each entry ticket stands alone and cannot be combined with any other entry tickets.

Group Finals Format- played on 3 machines per round.

In the final rounds, qualifying players play against each other in 4-player games. A 4-2-1-0-point system is used to determine the two top players in a group who advance to the next round. Points for the three machines in the round will be added, and the two best will advance to the next round.
