Tournament Overview

===== LEAGUE FORMAT =====

This year's weekly will not feature a elimination tournament, but instead a true league. Everyone will play four games (sometimes 3-player, sometimes 4-player) and then the night will be over and we'll all hang out and enjoy the free-play.

3-player games will award:

7 points for 1st
4 points for 2nd
1 point for 3rd

4-player games will award:

7 points for 1st
5 points for 2nd
3 points for 3rd
1 point for 4th

===== MATCHUPS =====

Disclaimer: This format is meant to make it harder for stronger players.

Players will be put into a sorted list. Primary sort will be how many points they have for the evening. Secondary sort will be IFPA rank. Players 1-3 in the list will play each other, players 4-6 in the list will play each other, players 7-9 will play each other, etc, etc. The 4-player matchups will always be made at the bottom of the list.

So in your first match of the night, you will always play against people with an IFPA rank close to yours, but as the night goes on, you will play other players who are performing similar to you in that night.

10-player Example:

This list will be initially sorted by ifpa rank, because everyone has 0 points for the evening.

First matchups:

Robert Eden Jordan
Shawn Sean Chad
Dan Derek Mary Cory

But afterward, the list will be sorted based on how many points they have in the current evening, so the list afterward could look like this:

Eden 7
Dan 7
Chad 7
Mary 5
Robert 4
Shawn 4
Cory 3
Jordan 1
Sean 1
Derek 0

And then the grouping process will repeat, and Second round matchups would be:

Eden Dan Mary
Chad Robert Shawn
Cory Jordan Sean Derek

So on and so on.

First player in the list is player 1. Second player in the list is player 2, etc.

Machines will be selected randomly by the software.
