Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: November 18, 2015
Tournament held every third Wednesday of each month.
Fee: $10 entry - All welcome
Registration: 6:30pm
Start: 7pm
Preliminary Round:
Each player plays one single-player game on each machine.
On completion of the preliminary round, the average score on each machine is calculated.
Each players score on the machine with the lower average is multiplied by a weighting factor, calculated by dividing the higher average by the lower average.
The 8 players with the highest weighted aggregate scores advance to the finals.
Finals:
Each final is a head-to-head two-player game.
Qualifying Finals: 1v4 2v3
Elimination Finals: 5v8 6v7
Semi Finals: Qual. losers v Elim. winners
In each game, choice of position is given to the higher-ranked qualifier.
In the Qualifying Finals, choice of machine is given to the player who qualified in 1st place.
In the Elimination Finals, choice of machine is given to the player who qualified in 5th place.
Should 1st place and 5th place elect to play on different machines, choice of machine will also be given to the player who qualified in 2nd place for his Qualifying Final.
In the Semi Finals, choice of machine is given to the highest-ranked qualifier.
The two Qualifying Final winners and the two Semi Final winners advance to the Grand Final.
Grand Final:
The Grand Final consists of 3 x four-player games.
Points awarded in each game: 4 points for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd, 0 points for 4th.
The first two Grand Final games are played on the same machine. Random draws determine which machine is used first, and the order of play in each game.
In the event of a tie for any position at the end of the Grand Final, a tie-break game is played on the same machine as was used for the third Grand Final game. Order of play is determined randomly.
5th and 7th Place Playoffs:
Concurrent to the Grand Final, a playoff is held between the Semi Final losers to determine 5th place, and between the Elimination Final losers to determine 7th place.
Each playoff consists of a single two-player game. Choice of position is given to the higher-ranked qualifier.
