Tournament Overview
Start Date: March 27, 2015
End Date: March 29, 2015
Qualification Time: 20+ hours of qualifying time. This will satisfy the IFPA requirement and award the maximum grade of 20% for unlimited qualification
events.
Friday: Players will qualify on six different machines. There is no limit to the number of entries a player can use during qualification. Please refer to
tournament schedule for qualfication times.
A player's highest score is used for ranking purpose. Each machine is worth up to a maximum of 100 points. Second place is worth 90 points. Third place is
worth 85 points. Starting with 4th place, points will reduce by 1 point. The minimum points that can be earned by a player is 1 point.
A Friday composite score will be calculated for each player. This composite score will consist of all points scored on Friday for each machine in the event.
The top five composite scores will earn a spot in the Top 10
Scores from Friday will not carry over to Saturday.
Friday qualification will represent +6 significant games under the new IFPA point system.
Saturday: Players will qualify on +6 different machines.
A Saturday composite score will be calculated for each player. This composite score will consist of all points scored on Saturday for each machine in the
event.
The top five composite scores will earn a spot in the Top 10.
Saturday will represent six significant games under the new IFPA point system.
The Top 5 tiebreaker:
In the event of a tie for 5th place on Friday or Saturday, the tied players will play one game to break the tie. The highest score will be considered the
winner and will earn the 5th place spot.
The Top 10 rankings:
Players in the top 10 will be ranked based on the total points earned (Friday Composite + Saturday Composite) on their total tournament points. Highest point
total will earn the top rank. Lowest point total will earn the 12th rank.
At Large Bids:
Players that are not in the top 10 will earn a spot based on their total tournament points. These points are calculated by adding Friday and Saturday points
together. Players will be ranked according to this composite score.
Ranking Ties:
If players are tied for the final at large spot, a one ball playoff will be used as a tie breaker. The machine will be randomly selected by the tournament
judges.
If players are tied for any other at large spot, the player with the better IFPA ranking will be considered the better seed.
Within a playoff round, all players eliminated will be ranked based on their qualification rank. For Example, if 8,10,15, & 20 are eliminated in the round
of 8, qualification rankings would be used. So Seed 8 would be 5th seed. Seed 10 would be 6th seed. Seed 15 would be 7th seed. Seed 20 would be 8th seed.
Due to new IFPA rules, the playoffs cannot contain more than 50% of the total number of tournament participants. We expect a minimum of 80 players, so our
playoff structure is based on 40 players.
In the event of fewer than 80 players, the playoffs will be adjusted accordingly. The TPF Playoff Groups in Round 1 will have to be modified to accommodate
fewer players. The Finals may be modified to add more games to reach 100% Grade.
Entering the playoffs, the event will be worth a grade of 68%. Each significant game in the playoffs will add 4% until 100% is reached.
Playoff Format: Single elimination 2-player games. +9 Significant Games
Players will be grouped into six groups based on seeding. The top 4 seeds are not included in any groups.
The best seed is the lowest number, which is 1. The worst seed is the highest number, which is 40.
Playoff Groups:
Group 1 - (10, 16, 22, 28, 34, 35)
