Lynn’s Seaburgh is an IFPA certified and official Pinburgh Satellite group match play tournament limited to 64 players.
The five qualifying rounds are played on a fixed bank of four games totaling twenty games played. Modern, DMD, classic and a wildcard (any era). There will be a total of eight tournament banks and one backup bank. Pinburgh scoring will be used which is based on how many players you beat on a particular game, 3/2/1/0 (3/1.5/0 in a three player group). Two groups are assigned to each bank by Match Play.
Top 24 players will advance to Sunday A-finals and 25-32 will advance to B finals. Seed 1-8 will get a bye round. B finals is restricted for players in the top 250 on the day of qualifying. Tie-breakers will be played for all meaningful positions, including top 8. Finals continue in the same format as qualifying on the Sunday where the top two in each group advance in the tournament. Top seed in each group gets to pick any available bank (max two groups per bank). A player can not pick the same bank twice in the playoffs. Top group starts on the classic game in the bank and subsequent group starts on the DMD and move to the next game clockwise. Top four in each division will be awarded hardware and potential sponsor swag. No cash payouts.
Banks will be designated A finals banks and B finals banks, subject to change on the day of. The banks will be clearly marked during the tournament and the banks will be finalized a week before the tournament with the reservation that games may be changed at any time by the tournament staff.
Lynn’s Seaburgh is an official Pinburgh Satellite tournament. A single Pinburgh ticket with a face value of $350 (tournament entry and venue pass) will be raffled and awarded to an A-division qualifier. We’ll use the Match Play Randomizer to pick a winner from the playoff bracket. The drawing will take place at the venue directly after divisions have been solidified. The drawing will be broadcasted live on Twitch at https://twitch.tv/lynnsarcade. If you win the raffle and is unable to participate in Pinburgh or already have a valid Pinburgh entry, you must contact Pinburgh staff for a refund within 7 days of being awarded the spot. The entry is non-transferable and out of the tournament staff’s control.
The cost of the tournament is $75 for non-MFP members and $45 for members. The admission includes entry to Lynn’s Arcade for three days and the Friday 7pm Interstellar Target Match Play tournament and The Seaside 1000 card-based side tournament on Sunday. Doors 10am on Saturday and you must be checked in by 10:30am, after that your spot is not guaranteed and we’ll admit waitlisters.
