Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: February 04, 2020
This tournament is Free. It is a 1 day event. It is limited to the first 80 people who sign up for it. You do not have to participate in TitleTown Pinball League to be part of this tournament. You must sign up at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament by sending an email to ekthoren@yahoo.com saying you would like to play in this tournament. Other ways to register may become available in the future (check website titletownpinball.com) but if this is your first time registering then send me an email and I will always accept an email as a registration.
When you arrive at TitleTown Pinball you mush check in with Erik or other designated person at the front counter so we know you are here.
This Tournament is held at TitleTown Pinball and qualifying starts promptly at 5PM and runs until the end of TitleTown Pinball League night (approximately 9PM) which is in the same location and time but this tournament will have a dedicated machine to qualify on and you may only play on the machine that is dedicated for this tournament. This is a 1 game qualifier and you only get 1 try on the dedicated qualifying game. So if you are here, just to play in this tournament only, you can only play on this one machine, one time, and then you have to wait and see if you qualify for the finals. You may not play on the other pinball machines at TitleTown unless you are part of league night that is going on at the same time. I do have a couple mega touches you can play in the lounge area for free. Anyone may join league night and register for it separately. Check the TitleTown Pinball Website for details on registering.
Once the TItleTown Pinball league night is over so is qualifying for the side tournament whether you have played your game or not. Then the top 8 qualifiers will play an 8 game Group Multi-Match Play playoff to determine the winner.
You play 1 game on the pre-selected machine. Qualifying will end as soon as the 7th round of match play for league has completed. The top 8 scores will move onto a playoff.
For the Playoff: You will be seeded according to qualifier; A group(1,4,5,8) and B group (2,3,6,7). A and B groups will do a 4 round, multi-match game, with IFPA group match play scoring. Groupings of games will be pre-selected in advance. Highest seed gets to choose their play order 1st then next highest seed chooses their order etc. The order you choose will be the same on all 4 tables. Multi-match means that all 4 games will be played at the same time with player 1 playing the first ball on game 1; then when that ball drains they move on to game 2 and plays ball 1; meanwhile player 2 steps up to the first game and plays ball 2, etc. Both groups play their 4 games and write down 7-5-3-1 on each game depending on their score. Those scores are added up. The top 2 continue to the finals. The bottom 2 are eliminated. A tie between 2nd and 3rd place in this grouping will be broken with a 1 game playoff on the alternate machine chosen in advance or a randomly drawn game if the alternate was used. Play order for the tiebreaker is determined by highest seed in qualifier gets to choose their order 1st. You will receive a ranking based on their IFPA scores on those 4 games. For example if eliminated player 1 scores 12 points and eliminated player 2 scores 15 points then in the final ranking that is submitted to IFPA player 2 will be ranked higher than player 1. This is true for both the A and B groupings because they will be put together and the points earned will be used to determine final position. So this way the 4 players eliminated will not all be tied for same position.
The playoffs continue with the top 4 players playing 4 games simultaneously to determine the winner. Seeding for the final 4 will be based on the qualifying round. A tie for 1st place will result in a 1 game playoff chosen at random. All other ties will stand.
