For qualifying, you'll play in random groups of 3 or 4 players. Win qualifying points by doing well in your game: 7/5/3/1 points for 4-player group; 7/4/1 points for 3-player groups. (We'll use the Balanced pairings setting so that you get to meet and play against a wider variety of other players.)
Approximately the top half of players advance to the finals. 16 players advance if we have 32 or more players or top 12 if 31 to 24 players. Top 8 advance if we have 23 to 16 players.
Full game tiebreaker for anyone who is tied on match points to advance to the finals; randomly selected game. Automatic tiebreakers (most 1sts and 2nds) for seeding in the finals; one ball tiebreaker for players in the finals who are exactly tied on automatic tiebreakers (the players may choose to be assigned a random seed order instead).
Finals: **two (2) games per round** Group Elimination Bracket
For 16 players we'll do 4 player groups with **7/4/2/0 scoring**. Top 2 from each group advance to get down to 8 players in the semifinal round.
For 12 players we'll do 3 player groups with **3/2/1** scoring. Top 2 from each group advance to get down to 8 players in the semifinal round.
In the round with 8 players we'll do 4 player groups with **7/4/2/0 scoring**. Top 2 from each group advance to get down to 4 players in the final round.
Any players from the same group who are tied on match points to determine who advances at the end of the quarterfinal or semifinal round will play a one game tiebreaker to determine their relative positions within the group. (In the quarterfinals and semifinals, we won't break ties for just 1st/2nd, both players advance; or just 3rd/4th, neither player advances.) Tiebreaker game will be chosen by the top seed among tied players (see more game choice rules below).
Players eliminated in quarterinals/semifinals show as tied in the standings with other players who achieved the same position (e.g. after the semifinal round 1sts and 2nds will advance; 3rds will be tied for 5th place; and 4ths will be tied 7th place).
For the final round of 4 players we'll have a single group **7/4/2/0 scoring**. Two games in this round. Any ties for 1st place and any 3-way ties will be broken with a single game. Any two-way ties for 2nd/3rd or 3rd/4th will not be broken and will just be reported as ties.
Top seed in each group (or involved in each tiebreaker game) has choice of game or position. You cannot have your game wait for another group's tournament game in progress to finish; choose from the available games. You cannot choose the same game twice in the same round (including for the tiebreaker game). You may choose a game again if you chose it in an earlier round.
The games will be on their normal settings of either $1 per play or 3 plays for $2.
