Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: April 13, 2025
Monthly weekend pinball tournament at My Parents' Basement!
SECOND Sunday (4/13) this month to avoid a conflict with Easter.
Entry fee: $5 plus dollars for games
Register from 11:30-11:55 am
First round starts at 12:00 pm noon
** Qualifying **
7 rounds of group match play with one game per round (12 pm to approx. 3:30 pm)
Top 8 players advance to finals
** Finals **
Group match play elimination bracket
2 games per round
7/4/2/0 scoring
** More details **
For qualifying:
Balanced pairings (you'll be grouped with a variety of other players)
For the cut to finals:
Full game tiebreaker to get into finals for any players tied on match points at the end of qualifying.
For seeding:
Non-cutline ties for seeds 5-8 broken randomly using order listed in qualifying standings (or info from the cut tiebreaker e.g. for a tie for 7th - 9th). Ties for seeds 1-4 (for game choice) broken by either a one ball game on a fast machine (Iron Man, John Wick, etc) or rock-paper-scissors if the tied players prefer that.
For finals:
Top two players from each group advance to the next round of finals; bottom two players are eliminated.
Two games per round.
7/4/2/0 scoring (this helps lead to fewer ties).
High seed in the group gets choice of game or position or veto. If they choose game, then next seed in the group gets choice of position or veto. Player who chooses to veto gets to remove one machine from the available options before the game is picked. Player who chooses the game gets the remaining player position after other players choose their positions. Same procedure repeated after game one for choosing the second machine and player positions.
Possible example: Top seed says they want to choose the game; next seed says they want to veto Uncanny X-Men; top seed then chooses Foo Fighters; third seed chooses to be player 4; fourth seed chooses to be player 3; second seed chooses to go be player 2; top seed is player 1.
If players are tied for the advance/elimination cut then those tied players will play a full tiebreaker game.
Top seed among tied players will get to choose game or position and must choose a machine different than the ones that they have played that round. Games that had been vetoed are available to use as the tiebreaker game.
